Time Flies: It's Almost SPRING!

Time Flies: It's Almost SPRING!

Yes, it is almost spring! March 20th, just a few short days from now, is officially the First Day of Spring. Spring is a great time for gardening and getting outdoors after a long winter. Here are some things you can do to prepare for spring:

  1. Clean up your garden: Remove any dead leaves, twigs, and debris from your garden beds to prepare for planting.

  2. Prepare the soil: Add compost or other organic matter to the soil to improve fertility and drainage.

  3. Start seeds indoors: If you plan on growing vegetables or flowers from seed, start them indoors now so they will be ready to transplant outside in a few weeks.

  4. Plan your garden: Decide what you want to grow in your garden this year and make a plan. Consider companion planting and crop rotation to improve plant health and yield.

  5. Prune trees and shrubs: Late winter/early spring is the best time to prune most trees and shrubs before they begin to leaf out.

  6. Check your tools: Make sure your gardening tools are in good condition and sharpen any dull blades.

  7. Get outside and enjoy nature: Take walks, go for hikes, and enjoy the early signs of spring.

Remember, spring weather can be unpredictable, so keep an eye on the forecast and protect your plants from late frost and extreme weather. Talk to any of our associates with your gardening questions, we're happy to help!

Happy gardening!
