Introducing the Othello Ligularia, a striking and captivating perennial that's bound to add a touch of drama and elegance to your garden. With its bold, dark foliage and vibrant, daisy-like blooms, this remarkable plant is sure to become a showstopper in any landscape.

Key Features:

  • Rich Foliage: The Othello Ligularia boasts deep, dark purple to almost black, heart-shaped leaves that make a bold statement in any garden setting. The foliage is almost leather-like, adding a unique texture to your garden.

  • Vivid Blooms: In the late summer to early fall, the Othello Ligularia produces vibrant, golden-yellow daisy-like flowers that stand out beautifully against the dark foliage. These flowers attract pollinators and add a pop of color to your garden.

  • Shade Lover: Othello Ligularia thrives in partial to full shade, making it an ideal choice for areas of your garden that receive limited direct sunlight. This makes it an excellent option for under tree canopies or along shady garden paths.

Basic Care Tips:

  • Growing Zones: Othello Ligularia is best suited for USDA hardiness zones 4-8. It can withstand cold winters and thrives in cooler climates.

  • Light Requirements: Plant in partial to full shade. It can tolerate some morning sun, but avoid prolonged exposure to harsh afternoon sunlight.

  • Soil Needs: Ensure well-draining, rich, and consistently moist soil. Mulching can help retain moisture and maintain soil temperature.

  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist. Regular watering, especially during hot and dry spells, is essential for the health and growth of your Ligularia.

  • Pruning: Trim back spent flower stalks to encourage new growth and maintain a tidy appearance. In late fall, cut back the plant to the ground to prepare for the winter.

  • Pest and Disease Resistance: Othello Ligularia is relatively resistant to pests and diseases. However, keeping the plant healthy and avoiding waterlogged soil can prevent potential issues.
