Add a touch of elegance to your garden with Alexander's Great Brunnera (Brunnera macrophylla 'Alexander's Great'). Known for its striking foliage and charming blue flowers, this perennial plant is a must-have for any garden enthusiast. With its adaptability to a wide range of growing zones and straightforward care requirements, it's the perfect addition to your outdoor space.

Growing Zones: Alexander's Great Brunnera is suitable for growing in USDA Hardiness Zones 3 to 8. This plant thrives in both cold and temperate climates, making it a versatile choice for a variety of garden settings.

Basic Care Tips:

  1. Location: Choose a partially shaded to full shade location in your garden for best results. Brunnera prefers protection from intense afternoon sun, making it ideal for woodland gardens or as an underplanting for trees and shrubs.

  2. Soil: Ensure well-draining, humus-rich soil. Brunnera can adapt to a range of soil types, but it thrives in moist, fertile soil.

  3. Planting: Plant Alexander's Great Brunnera in the spring or fall. Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball, place the plant, and backfill with soil. Water thoroughly after planting.

  4. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells. Water deeply to encourage a healthy root system.

  5. Mulching: Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.

  6. Fertilizing: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring. This will provide the necessary nutrients for healthy growth and vibrant foliage.

  7. Pruning: Remove spent flowers to encourage a neater appearance and potential reblooms. In the late fall or early spring, cut back the old foliage to make way for fresh growth.

  8. Pest and Disease Management: Brunnera is generally pest and disease-resistant. However, keep an eye out for slugs and snails, which can sometimes be a nuisance.
