Key Features:
- Variegated Foliage: Sunstruck's unique variegated leaves feature shades of green and creamy yellow, adding visual interest even before the flowers bloom.
- Bright Yellow Blooms: As summer arrives, the plant bursts into a profusion of golden-yellow, daisy-like flowers, attracting butterflies and pollinators to your garden.
Growing Zones: Sunstruck False Sunflowers thrive in USDA hardiness zones 3-9. Whether you're in the cooler northern climates or the warmer southern regions, this resilient perennial adapts well to a variety of conditions.
Basic Care Tips:
-
Sunlight: Plant Sunstruck in a location with full sun exposure for optimal growth and blooming. Aim for at least 6-8 hours of sunlight daily.
-
Soil: Ensure well-draining soil to prevent waterlogged roots. This adaptable perennial can tolerate a range of soil types but prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil.
-
Watering: While Sunstruck is moderately drought-tolerant, it's crucial to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the hot summer months. Water deeply and allow the soil to dry slightly between watering sessions.
-
Pruning: Deadhead spent flowers regularly to encourage continuous blooming throughout the season. Cut back the plant in late fall or early spring to promote a tidy appearance.
-
Fertilization: Feed the Sunstruck False Sunflower with a balanced, all-purpose fertilizer in early spring to support healthy growth and abundant blooms.
-
Winter Care: Mulch around the base of the plant in late fall to provide insulation during winter. This helps protect the roots and ensures a strong start in the following growing season.
