How are heights measured?

Tree and Shrub heights are measured from the top of the root ball or soil, measuring only the above ground portion of your tree your shrub.

  • Intricate, Heart-Shaped Blossoms: The Wild Bleeding Heart earns its name from the uniquely heart-shaped, pendulous blooms. Delicate, rosy-pink petals dangle gracefully, making this perennial a symbol of love and affection in your garden.

  • Easy to Grow: Perfect for both experienced gardeners and newcomers, the Wild Bleeding Heart thrives in growing zones 3-9. Its resilience and adaptability to various soil conditions make it a low-maintenance, rewarding addition to your garden.

  • Shade-Loving: Create a serene, shaded oasis in your garden, as the Wild Bleeding Heart flourishes in partial to full shade. Its preference for cooler, shaded spots allows you to bring a touch of elegance to the less sunny areas of your landscape.

Basic Care Tips:

  • Planting: Select a well-draining location with dappled shade or filtered sunlight. Ensure the soil remains consistently moist. Plant your Wild Bleeding Heart in early spring or early fall.

  • Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Mulching around the base helps retain moisture and keeps the root zone cool.

  • Maintenance: Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continuous blooms. In late fall, after the foliage has died back, you can cut it to the ground to prepare for the next growing season.

  • Winter Protection: In colder climates (Zone 3-6), a layer of mulch can provide added protection during the winter months.

  • Propagation: Divide established clumps in early spring to maintain plant health and create more beautiful accents in your garden or share with fellow garden enthusiasts.
